SUPREMATISM MEETS ART DECO: FASHION EDITORIAL

Inspired by the avant-garde of the 1920s that reinvented contemporary art, we present a proposal that synthesizes several artistic movements from this time:

Suprematism (Malevich, Tatlin), and Constructivism (Mondrian, Lissitsky), placed in an art-deco setting, contemporary in time but very distant conceptually.

In the 1920s  many artistic movements were born, often contradictory and/or conceptually opposed, as an expression of creative freedom and an explosion of freshness. We found it especially interesting to mix several of these artistic movements within the same editorial project: a synthesized representation of the 20s of the last century.

Suprematism focused on the fundamental geometric forms where any reference or imitation of nature was avoided. Here conventional art is rejected and sensitivity is sought through geometric abstraction.

The Art Deco movement, also from the same period, focuses on the ornamentation of spaces, leaving aside functionality: “décor pour le décor”. This will be the environment that will frame the model, combining its ostentatious style with the geometry of the human body within this space, leaving us with a mixture that perfectly represents the 1920s with a modern visual reading 100 years later.

Today art is based on the eclecticism of previous movements, a combination of a vast palette of colours, ideas and symbols invented in the past.

We are in the twenties again, in another post-crisis twenties, willing to celebrate another survival, another victory, eager to speed up to another change that we hardly remember the past in a century that changed everything.

BETWEEN FASHION AND ART: FASHION EDITORIAL

Merging fashion, fine art and literature, in eight epic female characters from Shakespeare, photographed referencing eight classic artworks from El Greco through Munch to Picasso.
Lady Macbeth in Munch’s “Scream“, Juliet about to take the poison in Picasso’s “The Absinthe Drinker”, Ophelia in David’s “The Death of Marat”, Cleopatra “The Death of Cleopatra“ by Barbieri, Portia in El Greco’s “Knight
with the Hand on the Chest“, Desdemona in “The Clothed Maja“ by Goya, Titania in “Venus with a Mirror“ by Titian, Beatrice “Girl Reading a Letter” by Vermeer.

“He was not of an age, but for all time!” said the playwright Ben Johnson about William Shakespeare in the preface of the First Folio, the compilation of the Bard ́s complete works, almost 400 years ago. History proved him right
and today we take his characters in order to give them a new life through a fashion lens.

OXXO MAGAZINE

BRIDAL COUTURE EDITORIAL

We set the bridal editorial for OXXO magazine in the enchanting gardens of El Capricho. Every detail—from the fine, seamless makeup to the couture bridal gowns—was chosen to evoke a sense of romance, timeless elegance and grace.

My goal as a photographer was to craft a visual story that captures the magic of bridal couture, blending sophistication with the gentle allure of a fairytale moment. Soft, uniform lighting and carefully composed postures added to the ethereal quality, creating imagery that feels dreamy and inspiring.

THE JUNGLE BOOK: FASHION EDITORIAL

For The Jungle Book, we ventured into a dry yellow landscape to create a bold contrast between nature and fashion. The exuberant styling colours -- bright fuchsias, violets, and daring textures—brought a sense of vibrancy and drama.

Every detail, from the adventurous poses to the carefully chosen props, was designed to evoke the spirit of adventure. The creative direction embraced this narrative, to craft a vision of a “fashion victim” lost, yet thriving, in nature. The result is an editorial that’s daring, colorful, and unapologetically captivating.
